Down Time on the Gulf

We left Standing Stone 4 ... and drove to the gulf. Just ran into heavy rain around Atlanta. Arrived to find paradise for a week.

It's there every day.

Wonderful time - great break.

Great evenings.

Kelly loves to hunt shells. I'm the helper. We find interesting surprises in them ...

And, can you believe, we found an Octopus in one shell? We thought it was a once in a lifetime thing. We found "5" of them over the week's stay!!! Amazing. The hurricanes must have had things stirred up. In all the previous years (40+ for Kelly) we'd never seen one. We photographed them and put them back. They swam off - Kelly laughed once and pointed to my toe (where the Octopus had taken up residence!!) EEEeeeek!!!!

I thought I heard someone say "Shark!" Here I was caught skimming across the water ....

Funny characters ...

Here's a test. Not gonna tell you now ... please guess: What did I find so funny here that I just had to take a pic? Hint ... it's not strictly the ice cream shop as a big cone.

We met some folks down there. They recommended we visit a particular shop. We came out and, I swear ... there was not another car in the parking lot except our truck and this car. It had not been there when we parked. This driver parked this way. They had to be a snake to get out. I had to get in from our passenger side. Is this Florida humor? ;?)

Beautiful

The community gathers on a wharf at sunset and rings the bell. The bell ringer for the evening is entered in a ledger which is occasionally placed over in the community museum. Folks from round the world are recorded there. Kelly and I are there from this and years past.

We drove the 800 miles back to Kentucky and picked up the trailer from our good friend's place. 600 more miles and we were home.

What a great Festival and Vacation.

Thanks for sharing.
