Liberty Class

Introducing ...

Liberty Class

Please note: The work you see is completely handmade. I rarely have inventory. The standard method of acquiring my work is to join the Barnes Pneumatic Ledger. I'd love to make more faster, but it would not be the same product.

Designed to shoot #3 buckshot.

Added 5-17-04 - Evening Patio Session

I find that if I want to shoot, I must ignore the facts: I don't have time. There are things I should be doing. It looks like rain. It's getting late. I'm tired ... etc.

We came home from dinner at a small diner we enjoy. I said to myself ... "Go ahead ... live alittle ... ;?)

Here I'm practicing for old age. Got the rocker thing going on the patio. I fear the camera creates the "illusion" that my hair is thinning ... ahem!" Yes, as you can tell, the light was fading fast...

I'd hung up a heavy rubber floor fatigue mat - about 1/2" thick by 3' sq. at about 20 yards. There's a small alcove where the shop wraps around an ancient weeping cherry tree. My first shot went "Twack ... tic .. tack!!!" Humm. 28fpe in 25 round ball goes right thru 1/2" heavy rubber mats @ 20 yards. So I put up another one to face the first.

Above is the target, off the knee, from the rocker. Three shots @ 20 yards. Liberty XXV shooting #3 Buckshot.

Kelly came out and lit a candle. We moved the picnic table to gain a better seating arrangement.

Now ... let's see ... there's got to be a way ....

The human brain is a wonderful thing. Yes ... we progressed rather quickly to the cardboard box front rest.

It's serious dark now. I tossed a drop light to shine on the target. As it starts to rain, Kelly fires this group.

Three shots in the dark. A very simple 4X shotgun scope - #3 buckshot off a box on a picnic table. I don't bet against her...

We were rained out and the competition called for darkness. However; we had a great time and never refilled the rifle. When I took it into the shop to clean and wipe it off with a wax cloth, I checked the chrono. I'd had it set for approx. 735 fps - that's about 28 fpe. I'd filled it only to 2,800 psi. It still had 2,350 psi left. It was extremely quiet to shoot. Take a dry stick about the size of your finger and snap it - that's similar to the sound of the rifle firing. The ball thwacking the target is much louder.

Everything doesn't have to be perfectly planned to have fun. ;?)
