There are just a few more little things to do first ...

The hub needs to be fitted to the billet receiver. This scribed out area must be removed.

 

 

You recall the large band saw I bought some months back. That's been very helpful. I have 4 band saws - but this one is a charm.

 

 

Here the waste area has been cut away as best that's efficient with this saw.

 

Back to one of the milling machines. This one is a belt drive. The tool and the speed must be chosen for the task. There's ALOT of this that goes on during the day.

 

 

The billet is positioned and clamped into the machine vise on the mill.

 

 

And, we start roughing out the remaining waste steel.
